Chronology

Russell Brower is born

Beginning his career with WED Enterprises in 1981, Russell’s first project was audio engineering the “Stepping Tones” activity for Journey into Imagination’s Image Works interactive exhibit, and quickly transitioned to composing music under the supervision of George Wilkins with whom he collaborated on the creation of The Living Seas’ aquatic atmosphere.

With The Living Seas, Russell became the patron saint of Cast Member sanity by reintroducing hour-long background music loops to Disney theme parks. Later, when Epcot was undergoing its first renewal in the early 90s, Russell would return to create the iconic Innoventions Plaza score.

Where the Living Seas music invited quiet exploration beneath the waves, the Innoventions loop lifted visitors with uplifting Future World themes, subtle homages to classic pavilions, and a cinematic sense of progress—bridging Epcot’s oceanic calm to its bold, forward-looking horizon.
