Commissary Lane

by The American Broadcasting Company

With four-hour waits for The Great Movie Ride, and similarly lengthy queues for the rest of the park's handful of experiences, it was self-evident that before the end of 1989 the charmingly small Disney-MGM Studios was going to need to expand quickly. The first of these additions was Commissary Lane in 1991 themed as the “Stars Entrance” to the working studio, this side street is lined with luxurious Carnary Island palms and premiered with two eating establishments — the high-end “Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater” and the "Studio Commissary". A few years later, in 1995 after Michael Eisner acquired Captial Cities/ABC, the aforementioned eatery synergistically became the “ABC Commissary” complete with a new BGM of ABC TV themes presented here in their entirety.
