Originally created in 1981 for the Universe of Energy pavilion, Deborah Lord's "World Bold" typeface, with its structured block style & soft rounded corners, was quickly adopted for all of EPCOT Center's Future World, creating a cohesive design vocabulary for the visionary park. World Bold was implemented on everything from attraction marquees to wayfinding signage.
"World" walks a fine line of being forward-thinking without the traditionally sharp angles of other typefaces of tomorrow.
It's futuristic without being formidable. In other words, perfect for EPCOT Center's Future World!
NEW WORLD pays tribute to Lord's original typeface with several enhancements, including:
• Medium and Light weights for dramatically improved readability for body text and longer passages
• Expanded character set of over 200 hand-crafted glyphs for professional use
• Custom-created Italic versions of each weight
NEW WORLD CONDENSED builds on New World's legacy with updated proportions and a bolder graphic statement.
